Jencat Maine Coons

Welcome to Jencat Maine Coons. Jencat is a small cattery located in Orchard Park, N.Y. My name is Jennifer Green and I have been breeding Maine Coons since 2001. I have lived and cared for cats my entire life. I became interested in showing Household Pets in 1990, and this was my introduction to the Cat Fanciers Association (CFA). I showed only Household pets (or non pedigreed cats) for many years until I became interested in Maine Coons. I obtained my first Maine Coon, a female spay. I entered her into premiership (class for altered pets) until she granded. Soon after my female I acquired another Maine Coon, a male named Bosco. Bosco granded at the young age of 9 months in premiership. It was then I realized my maturing interest in the Maine Coons and considered breeding. It was then Dina fell into my lap, my wonderful foundation girl. With our first breeding, this litter produced two kittens that became a great addition to my cattery: Dottie and Durango (seen above).

All my cats are registered in the CFA and enjoy being taken to shows as often as they can! I love all of my cats immensely, they are my children, my life. Socialization is a huge factor in breeding, and I make sure each kitten is reared with a healthy socialization level. To ensure this we make routine visits to Petsmart, creating a tolerance and acceptance of being handled around people in great multitudes as well as other animals. The entire staff handles the cats and they enjoy it so much, they are excited to return! All of my time goes into my cats. The females have full run of the house and the males are not caged. They have an entire room to themselves and are taken out often. They all enjoy watching the birds from their sunroom. They get lots of attention.
